What I liked about this Museum is that it’s not so big it takes you 3 or 4 hours to walk around and leaves you feeling bored and fed, wondering how much further to the exit; but is big enough so that it’s worth making the trip for – and yes, it is worth making the trip for. The permanent walk-through the museum is interesting and informative and covers the Romans, the Victorians, the Great Plague, the Great Fire of London, Shakespeare, the Second World War, and the 2012 Olympics. I’m sure there is something in that list that interests you! In the courtyard of the Museum is what’s left of the ‘wall of London’, which defined where the city of London border fell many, many years ago. This can be seen from the windows towards the end of the Roman era (or in the picture below).
All in all, I enjoyed this one – a history of London in an hour or two; you can pick out the bits of history you enjoy and skip the bits you don’t! Oh, and free entry! Museum of London here: http://www.museumoflondon.org.uk/london-wall/
